HDFS 286C - Practicum: Pre-Health Professions

Career exploration and community placement opportunities to observe individuals/families at varying stages of the lifespan and apply knowledge gained from coursework in human development and family studies.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Develop professional skills at a practicum site pertinent to pre-health professions.
  2. Identify professional goals and assess personal strengths and challenges related to the practicum experience. 
  3. Explain ethical issues and professional ethical codes relevant to placement site. 
  4. Describe theoretical frameworks and contextual information relevant and sensitive to diverse populations at placement site.

Prerequisite

HDFS 101 (Individual and Family Development (GT-SS3)) or concurrent registration.

Dr. Jennifer Reinke is an Associate Professor in the Human Development and Family Studies Department at CSU. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Certified Family Life Educator, and co-editor of Family Life Education: The Practice of Family Science. Dr. Reinke’s scholarly interests are centered around the scholarship of teaching and learning in family science.
