Dr. Aaron Brown was formerly director of Mechanical Engineering Technology at his previous institution. His work has focused on Small Scale Appropriate Technologies, Humanitarian Engineering, and Sustainable Systems Engineering. Many of his projects have been directed at systems approaches that improve the well-being of vulnerable communities. Dr. Brown’s projects have left an indelible mark locally and globally, earning recognition for his commitment to social betterment through awards like the Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Award and designation as a “Visionary Partner” by the U.S. State Department.

Prior to academia, Brown worked in the aerospace industry on projects like NASA’s Mars Curiosity and Perseverance missions’ landing mechanism, the Hubble Robotics project, and the Global Precipitation Measurement Mission (GMI) satellites. Additionally, he worked at The National Institute of Standards and Technology in the superconductor lab.

Representing CSU’s Systems Engineering Department at Spur Campus, Dr. Brown hopes that his presence can benefit the institution’s outreach and connection to the Denver Metro area.
