This course will teach knowledge, values, and skills to engage, assess, and intervene with those experiencing animal-related grief and loss, as well as provide an overview for how animals can mitigate grief and loss.

Dr. Kerri Rodriguez is a Human-Animal Interaction Researcher with the Human-Animal Bond in Colorado (HABIC) at CSU. Her work focuses on understanding our complex relationships with companion animals, including how pet dogs, therapy dogs, and service dogs contribute to human health and wellbeing. Her expertise complements this course by applying human-animal interaction principles to topics surrounding grief and loss, including animal-assisted interventions.
