Dr. Edward L. DeLosh is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology and assists in the coordination of the undergraduate program.
Dr. DeLosh is a first generation college student, being the first person in his extended family to attend a four-year college. He first attended Northwestern University, where he attained his bachelor's degree in psychology. He then received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in cognitive psychology from Purdue University. After attaining his doctoral degree, he was hired by the Department of Psychology at CSU as part of an initiative to build the department's strength in cognitive psychology, and played an integral role in establishing CSU's Cognitive Psychology Doctoral Program, which is now nationally recognized as a top tier program.
Dr. DeLosh's specialization is in the area of human learning and memory. He is particularly drawn to memory topics that are directly relevant to learning and memory in classroom settings. With regard to teaching, Dr. DeLosh has taught a number of courses pertaining to cognitive psychology, including PSY 152 Science of Learning, PSY 252 Mind, Brain, and Behavior, and PSY 452 Cognitive Psychology. He is a recent recipient of the College of Natural Sciences Faculty Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award, is a regular participant in the Master Teacher Initiative Program, and is a key contributor to CSU's new Science of Learning Initiative.
