This course examines the breadth and depth of public art and creative placemaking programs, projects, and initiatives and the critical issues each area faces today. Students will develop an understanding of how such programs, projects, and initiatives are developed, funded, and managed. Students will also examine how efforts in public art and creative placemaking can drive both community and economic development. Topics such as authorship, engagement, interpretation, stewardship, and storytelling as they apply to public art and creative placemaking will be covered throughout the course.
