With a critical social justice approach, examines the foundations of education by engaging with critical theories and literature. Examines systemic institutional, personal, societal, and civilizational conscious and unconscious ideologies impacting schools and schooling systems in the United States. Race and racism issues will be analyzed in relation to social justice education.
This course meets the All-University Core Curriculum (AUCC) requirements for Social/Behavioral Sciences (Category 3C) and is approved under gtPathways in the content area of Human Behavior, Culture, or Social Frameworks (GT-SS3).
