This course introduces the Rocky Mountain Naturalist training program and provides participants with the essential skills and knowledge to deepen their connection with the natural world. The complete program offers a flexible, research-based learning experience through five core areas: Practicing as a Naturalist, Life Zones, Rocky Mountain Ecology and Biology, Conservation and Stewardship, and Human Connection.
As the foundation of the program, this introductory course focuses on developing key naturalist skills such as awareness and observational techniques, resource development, teaching, and maintaining a Naturalist’s Journal. You will explore the unique ecosystems of the Southern Rocky Mountain Region, examine nature’s impact on human health, gain insights into conservation practices, and learn about distinct life zones.
Whether you are an aspiring naturalist, educator, or nature enthusiast, this course will equip you with the tools and knowledge to observe, understand, and appreciate the intricate details of the natural world around you.
