Both instructors bring national and international recognition through grant-funded research, consulting, and applied practice, including training with the Army, Veteran’s Health Administration, and municipalities. The course now features a case-study approach, the latest evidence on CBT-I efficacy and effectiveness, and an expanded focus on occupational therapy’s unique role in addressing sleep disturbances. Content is delivered through streamlined video modules, a glossary of essential terms, guidance for continuing education, and optional instructor consultation to support OTs beginning to deliver CBT-I or other sleep-related services.

Since it is offered by Colorado State University, a regionally accredited institution, it is formally recognized by NBCOT for CE credit.

Aaron M. Eakman, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA is Associate Professor in the Occupational Therapy Department in the College of Health & Human Sciences at Colorado State University. His research program addresses 1) intervention for improving the sleep, mental health, and wellbeing, 2) supported-education and resilience-based factors contributing to community reintegration, academic success, and wellbeing of veterans in college with service-connected injuries, and 3) instrument and theoretical development to create interventions capable of improving human health and wellbeing in persons with cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal challenges. Natalie R. Rolle, M.O.T., OTR/L began working in the sleep field in 2015 as lead clinician with a grant from Wounded Warrior Project to work with Post 9-11 Veterans to improve their sleep health and she now specializes in behavioral sleep treatments with advanced training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI). Based on the successful outcomes of the WWP grant, Natalie has expanded those services more broadly and is now the lead OT for sleep services within the Center for Community Partnerships (CCP) within the Occupational Therapy department at CSU. The end goal Natalie seeks is to lower insomnia symptomology and improve quality sleep and daytime functioning through behavioral interventions. Natalie also serves as a Student Veteran Coordinator for the New Start for Student Veterans program at CCP, supporting successful outcomes for Veterans in higher education who face unique challenges.
