Expand knowledge of teaching and learning and to improve teaching methods. Sections will be specific to different concentration areas: music therapy, music education, and music performance.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion, students will be able to:
- Compare and contrast different pedagogical approaches to teaching and theories of learning.
- Appraise undergraduate and graduate college courses with consideration of theoretical foundation, course materials, and assessment.
- Apply methods and techniques from Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) resources (books, articles, and workshops).
- Develop materials for learning and assessment of learning in an undergraduate student population.
- Reflect on role of self in teaching including an examination of your ability to create/maintain student-teacher relationship and use personal attributes within your teaching.
- Develop one's own method of teaching.
