MU 684 - Supervised College Teaching

Expand knowledge of teaching and learning and to improve teaching methods. Sections will be specific to different concentration areas: music therapy, music education, and music performance.

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

  1. Compare and contrast different pedagogical approaches to teaching and theories of learning.
  2. Appraise undergraduate and graduate college courses with consideration of theoretical foundation, course materials, and assessment.
  3. Apply methods and techniques from Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) resources (books, articles, and workshops).
  4. Develop materials for learning and assessment of learning in an undergraduate student population.
  5. Reflect on role of self in teaching including an examination of your ability to create/maintain student-teacher relationship and use personal attributes within your teaching.
  6. Develop one's own method of teaching.
