MSE 436 - Green Engineering--Materials and Environment

Principles of green engineering in the context of materials, human dependence on materials, and the environmental consequences of materials selection. Perspective, background, methods, and data for evaluating and designing with materials to minimize the environmental impact.

Prerequisite

MECH 325 and MECH 331A.

Important Information

Credit allowed for only one of the following: MECH 436, MECH 481A4, or MSE 436.

Dr. Kaka Ma is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and School of Advanced Materials Discovery at Colorado State University (CSU). She earned her Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from University of California (UC), Davis in December 2010, and continued her postdoctoral research at UC Davis and UC Irvine before she joined CSU. She was also a lecturer for an upper-level undergraduate course, Materials in Engineering Design, at UC Davis from 2014 to 2015. She received her B.S. in materials physics from University of Science and Technology of China in June 2006. She has strong teaching and research interests in sustainable materials development and manufacturing for energy and aerospace applications. Email: Kaka.Ma@colostate.edu
