Adaptive system and machine learning algorithms. Topics include discriminants learning, pattern recognition, supervised and unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, kernel machines for classification, regression, information retrieval, generative classifiers, deep learning machines, applications in adaptive controls and filters, signal processing, forecasting, and pattern recognition.
Prerequisite
ECE 303/STAT 303 (Introduction to Communications Principles with a minimum grade of C) or STAT 303/ECE 303 (Introduction to Communications Principles with a minimum grade of C); ECE 312 (Linear System Analysis II) with a minimum grade of C.; Junior standing. Credit allowed for only one of the following: ECE 553, ECE 580C8, and ECE 656.. Credit not allowed for both ECE 553 and ECE 580C8
