BUS 522 - Self-Leadership in Organizations

  • 2 credits
Prepare for leadership roles in business and organizations. Develop personal leadership skills such as self-awareness, emotional intelligence, growth mindset, stress management, goal setting, career prototyping and work network building. Gain greater capacity for leadership roles while experiencing personal well-being, happiness and fulfillment.

This is a partial-semester course.

Credit not allowed for both BUS 522 and BUS 622.

Prerequisite

Graduate standing.

Important Information

This is a hybrid class with asynchronous and synchronous requirements; the asynchronous portions start at the beginning of the term, and the synchronous requirements are 8:00-5:00 on 5/29/26-5/30/26. Select section 701 to register for the in-person section; select section 801 to register for the virtual and synchronous Mosaic attendance option.

Dr. Troy Mumford enjoys doing research that explores leadership at different organizational levels (e.g., supervisory, managerial, and executive), in teams, and in shaping organizational culture. In addition, he investigates the types and determinants of leadership team roles as well as the connection between leadership actions and systems in driving organizational quality culture. He has published his research in multiple premier journals.
Troy is also passionate about teaching, and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Compensation and Benefits, and Management, receiving and being nominated for several teaching awards. He has also been involved in variety of independent consulting and applied research projects for organizations in the biomedical, manufacturing, financial, legal, and airline industries as well as the United States Government.
Troy V. Mumford received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University.
